Who’d have thought SOLIDWORKS/CAMWorks would go hand-in-hand with rock music?

Vans Warped is the largest traveling music festival in America. Since 2009, Vans Warped has been rocking cities all across the United States and the UK. This year, there were 66 bands on 6 stages, and my husband and I went!

Sure, we’re heavy into music festivals and it came with its share of sunburns and dehydration, but it was loads of fun. And I didn’t even mind turning it into a “work thing.”

Vans Warped has a list of sponsors that spans from animal rights to phone cases, and almost all of them use some times of 3D CAD or machining software.

Shell Cases “are made from some of the lightest and most durable polymers available today, providing you with the utmost protection without adding inconvenient and unnecessary bulk.” They were one of the top sponsors of the tour. Shell Cases uses 3D printing and modeling to make their indestructible polymer cases.

Paul Reed Smith Guitars “is one of the world’s premier guitar and amplifier manufacturers. Since [their] humble beginning in 1985, PRS Guitars has always strived to create the highest quality instruments possible. Guitar and amplifier building are very personal things [there], as most are dedicated players, refining [the] craft as builders, musicians, and artists of all kinds. [Their] deep commitment to the craft and culture of quality are what drives PRS in the workplace and the marketplace.” Paul Reed Smith uses machining software to cut the wood that eventually becomes a guitar!

SOLIDWORKS and CAMWorks comes a long way from design beginning to a finished product, and I’m a happy camper whenever that product involves music!
